Here's an article from AP about Amazon's behavior tracking. It discusses privacy issues, gift giving issues, and A9 integration. Amazon may be tracking every little consideration you make on their site, but to me they are not doing enough to be transparent about how they use that information. At the same time, as I stated earlier, they don't seem to be as effective as they once were at predicting behavior. Could it be that the longer you are an Amazon customer the more watered down the data about you becomes?
Thanks for sending this to me Lauren.

It's ok if they're watching, collecting data etc. The medium allows this and companies should take advantage of it to make the experience better for the customer. However they need to be clear and transparent about what they do with the information. And if they're going to capture it and say they use it to develop technology, make sure that customer experience technology actually works. Make it worthwhile for the customer at least. Right now I feel like I'm getting ripped off at Amazon. They take my information but I don't get what I expect in return. I don't want to Amazon bash... because I really like them. I trust them. I bought from them last night. I kid them because I care.
(I'll check out that book. Thanks Dick)
